How to Set Up Modes

Step 1: Open Your Child’s Profile in the Young Minds Parent App

  • In the Parent App, tap on your child’s profile.
  • Select “Manage Child’s Modes”, then tap “Add Mode”.

Step 2: Add or Select a Mode

  • Tap “+ Add a Mode” to create a new one, or select an existing mode to edit.
    Here are the preset options:
  • 📘 Study Mode – only allows educational apps.
  • 🌙 Wind Down Mode – allows music and relaxation apps; blocks web browsing.
  • 🛌 Bedtime Mode – blocks all apps and websites.
  • ✏️ Screen Free Day – blocks all apps and websites.
  • ✏️ Custom Mode – fully configurable for your needs.

Note: you can modify settings of all modes according to your needs the similar to Custom modes described below.

Step 3: Customise the Mode

  1. Toggle & Name
    • Use the switch to enable or disable the mode.
    • For Custom Modes, tap the ✏️ icon to rename it.
  2. Add Time Slots
    • Tap “Add Slot” to set the start time, end time, and days of the week the mode applies.
    • Example: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
  3. Manage App Access
    • Select which apps are available during the mode.
    • Apps are grouped by category, or you can search by name.
    • Tick the ones you want to allow, then tap “Save”.

Tip: Please ensure you allow Browser Apps if you want a child to be able to browse the internet.

  1. Manage Web Access – Choose how websites are filtered during this mode:
    • Default Filtering – general safe browsing.
    • Block All Except… – only allow specific websites URLs.
    • Category Filtering – allow only selected categories, like Educational or Entertaiment.

Tip: You can also add specific websites to allow or block during this time.

Step 4: Modify or Remove a Mode

  • To edit a mode, tap the arrow icon next to it.
  • You can change time slots, rename it, adjust apps/websites, or delete the mode.

Why Use Modes?

Modes are your day-to-day tools for helping your child stay focused, rested, or relaxed – without needing to micromanage their device use. Start with a simple setup, then adapt as your family’s routine evolves.
